We are currently looking to appoint a Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team. This is a great opportunity for someone with kitchen experience and a passion for food to join our team.

This is apart time position working 3 hours per day, term time only.

Gidea Park Preparatory School and Nursery is an independent, co-educational day school for children aged 2 to 11, where pupils get the best start possible and learn in a happy and secure environment. Founded in 1917, we have been educating, nurturing and challenging children for over 100 years. Children are at the heart of everything we do; our small classes and school environment truly allow us to know our pupils as individuals and to tailor our teaching and curriculum accordingly. We have high expectations for our pupil’s academic progress and personal development and work closely with our parents to ensure that all our pupils get the very most from their time with us.

As our Kitchen assistant you will undertake the task of supporting our Cook and supervising the preparation of meals. You will also perform domestic duties which ensure the safe production of food relevant to current food and health safety legislation. You will also assist the cook with serving where required.

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant who has the following qualifications & experiences:

- NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation.
- NVQ Level 2 in Food Service; Intermediate Food Hygiene
- The ability to estimate food consumption for purchasing
- Receive & examines foodstuffs and supplies to make sure quality and quantity meet established standards specifications
- Following all guidelines for food hygiene and health and safety
- Certificate of completion of any training program in cooking, or vocational school
- Holds an intermediate food hygiene certificate

We are looking for someone who has;
- Cooking experience within any food establishment
- Good understanding of commercial catering operation
- A good understanding of food hygiene and HACCP
- Enthusiasm, vision, drive, adaptability, and resilience
- High personal standards, self-motivated and proactive
- Suitability to work with children
- Flexible and maintain a sound sense of humour
- Commitment to continued personal and professional development
