Social Work First are recruiting for:Blackburn & Darwen Borough Council Qualified Social Worker for Children's Disability ServiceBlackburn with Darwen Children's Services require a qualified, experienced agency social worker to work in its Children's DisabilityService from 11th March for 3 months initially but with the possibility that this could be extended.The preferred level of experience is 2 years post completion of ASYE, though there may be some flexibility for this to be 1 year post ASYE dependent on experience.Therole requirements include, but are not limited to: Working together with service user and/or their parents or carers, to produce an outcome focussed SMART plan, following assessment that will meet the needs of the child, safeguard the child and promote permanence.To undertake the full range of assessment, care planning and reviewing activity to Looked after Children and Child in Need cases. This also includes undertaking Carer's Assessments. To undertake support and protection responsibilities; to have experience inworking according to the Public Law Outline processes, and experience in Child Protection processes as part of the role and court work of which is essential. To be involved with Mental Capacity Assessments, Best Interest Meetings and applications to the Courtof Protection. To provide support, guidance, advice and services to children, young people, carers and families to ensure placement stability and promote permanence. To work within Education, Health and Care Plan processes and according to legislative dutiesfor children with special educational needs and disabilities in the Borough. To be part of the Children's Disability Service Team Duty on a weekly basis on rota. To play an active role in transition planning into Adult Social Care Services for children andyoung people with learning and physical disabilities; to ensure their support packages are assessed as they approach adulthood. You will have a current SWE registration, be competent at using and recording on IT systems, including Protocol LCS experience preferablybut not essential, and have access to a car on a daily basis for carrying out statutory visits etc. There will mainly be office-based working, as required, to meet the needs of the service, with some working from home arrangements as agreed with the Team Manager.Minimumcompliance requirements: Social Work Qualification Registration with Social Work England DBS Check within 12 months or a DBS registered to the Update ServicePlease contact Chelsie on or call for an informal discussion on the role.
