Here at Babcock, our Marine Engineering & Systems (MES) business unit is expanding rapidly with complex, high-profile defence projects including Type 31 Frigate Design & Build Programme and the Successor Programme as well as providing engineering services tothe UK Surface Ship and Submarine fleet. Therefore, we are looking to grow our existing team, building on a well-established foundation of over 700 staff across the UK.

The Type 31 Project will deliver 5 general purpose, global, adaptable and exportable frigates to the Royal Navy designed to undertake a range of operational tasks from maritime security, humanitarian aid and disaster relief and defence engagement to operationin a high threat environment. The Project is the pathfinder and cornerstone of the National Shipbuilding Strategy and will be delivered in an innovative manner at pace with all 5 ships to be in-service by Dec 2028.

**Who we are looking for?**

We are looking for 3 high calibre Quality Control Inspectors, with Welding Inspection and multi-disciplined NDT certifications, to join our Quality Control team on the Type 31 Frigate Programme. The QC Inspectors will support the Quality Manager in ensuringthe T31 Quality and Governance Objectives are achieved and support Quality Improvement initiatives across the T31 project.

**What will you be doing?**

This is your opportunity to make a real impact as a Quality Control Inspector co-ordinating, managing and delivering the Quality Control Inspection and Acceptance activities for the T31 Build. You will be working as a key player within the T31 Project andwill have a high level of interaction with all of the wider community both at strategic and tactical levels e.g. Production, Engineering, Client, Lloyds Register, sub-contractors etc. This is essential to developing a sound basis for acceptance, completionand handover within a tight schedule and budget.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Be the single point of contact for Quality Control activities allocated.
- Ensure the effective implementation of the QC systems across the project; manufacture bays, syncrolift and module hall as required
- Ensure the effective liaison with other stakeholders for ITR inspections, compartment completion and handover inspections
- Manage and support from a QC perspective with the Block Build and Block Handovers understanding the completion state of the blocks and being the signatory for the relevant certification
- Provide analysis and reports of performance related data supporting joint process improvement initiatives
- Attend and present information at Team management meetings
- Manage the ITR inspection regime and maintain completion records within CMS
- Conduct the NCMS reporting, clearance and analysis and produce/distribute non-conformance reports to relevant stakeholders

**The experience you will bring**

You will be qualified to a recognised trade standard and a relevant academic level. You will have proven relevant experience in an engineering or defence related industry with specific emphasis on the Naval Construction Quality processes and standards. Extensiveexperience in multi-disciplines within a manufacturing environment with both fabrication and structural experience, as well as systems knowledge and experience.

You will have proven experience in conducting inspections relating to ship constructive/outfitting. You will have good working knowledge of ship systems, ship-building practices, standards and acceptance criteria. As well as the ability to read and interpretship construction drawings and specifications. Lastly, you must hold, or have the ability to obtain, full SC clearance and ITAR.

Required Certifications:

- Minimum CSWIP 3.1 or PCN Level 2 Welding Inspection
- Minimum PCN Level 2 in MT / MPI (pre and in-service)
- Minimum PCN Level 2 in PT / LPI (pre and in-service)
- Minimum PCN Level 2 in UT (3.1, 3.2, 3.7, 3.8, 3.9)
