**Main Purpose of the role**:

- To support adults with a learning disability to live as independently as they are able.
- To support these adults to implement their support plans and achieve the agreed outcomes set out in them.
- To ensure the safety and well being of all adults and treat them with dignity and respect at all times.
- To undertake any tasks as directed by the Director.

**Requirements**:
A current and up to date (no more than 2 years old) DBS - Disclosure and Barring Service check.

**Skills**

Organisational skills Exceptional verbal communication skills with adults with a learning disability, their families and other professionals. An understanding of Makaton sign language Good literacy skills Understanding of technology, i.e.. iPad; computer; telephone Ability to support adults with a learning disability on an individual basis or as part of a group.

**Main Responsibilities of the job**:
1. Never lose sight of the fact that the company is directly employed by the clients to enable them to live their lives to the full.

2. Assist clients with their personal, physical and emotional care needs.

3. Support all clients to ensure they are dressed appropriately for the weather and occasion.

4. Support clients to undertake washing of all personal laundry and assist them to care for their clothes appropriately.

5. Enable clients to achieve their maximum potential in living as independently as they are able.

6. Assessing and monitoring the emotional and physical well being of clients and ensuring appropriate, accurate and up to date information is reported in occurrence with communication procedures. Make clear and concise notes in the communication book for each client after each shift. This information must then be secured in a locked cabinet and only accessible to authorised personnel.

7. To provide information to the Director for written reports and support plans for individual clients.

8. Responding to any emergencies for clients, colleagues or buildings,

9. In the event of an accident to take all relevant First Aid measures summoning assistance from GP or ambulance as required. To complete accident forms and inform relatives if necessary.

10. To oversee all medication is taken in accordance with GP instructions, ensuring any relevant records are kept up to date.

11. Support the clients to see the GP, Chiropodist, Dentist, Optician or any other relevant professional.

12. Undertake any domestic duties, which may include deep cleaning the kitchen, bathrooms and other communal areas within the clients’ homes.

13. Support the clients to complete their weekly budgeting.

14. Support the clients to complete menu planning and weekly shopping either on the internet or at the supermarket of their choice.

15. Attend supervision with your line manager every 6 - 8 weeks

16. Attend staff or any other meetings as required.

17. Carry out all duties in accordance with company policies, procedures and practice in accordance with HCPC code of conduct. General The duties of this post may change and develop over time. The post holder will be expected to monitor such changes and developments and work alongside their manager to change the job description where appropriate.

**Job Type**: Zero hours contract

**Salary**: From £12.00 per hour

- Richmond upon Thames: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

- Support worker: 1 year (preferred)
- Learning disability support: 1 year (preferred)
