As part of our Transformation programme into how we deliver services in the community, we are looking for a motivated and passionate Peer Support Worker/s who has the East London NHS Trust Peer Support Worker accreditation and is committed to delivering high-quality peer support to our service users.

The main focus of the work will be with our service users aged 18-25, applicants should be able to draw upon their own experiences of mental illness to provide authentic support to their Peers and use their personal recovery journey to inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in the people they are supporting. They should be an effective communicator and be able to work proactively, as part of the local team and also as part of the wider Trust team. You should have good organisational skills and be able to manage a varying workload efficiently.

You will be able to support individuals in identifying personal recovery goals to improve their quality of life and to support them to do the things they want to do and live the life they want to lead.

The Peer Support Worker (PSW) is an integral and highly valued member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team. They work to facilitate client centered activities which inspire hope, empowerment and opportunity for all service users.

To support individuals in identifying personal value based recovery goals to improve quality of life and to empower service users to do the things they want to do and live the life they want to lead.

Through sharing aspects of own lived experience of mental health challenges and of accessing services the PSW will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others. The post holder will develop relationships based on mutuality so they can facilitate and support information sharing to promote choice, self
- determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of socially valued roles.

The PSW will act as an ambassador of Recovery with other Trust Recovery champions working with external agencies and partner organisations.

This role will specifically support young adults to access adult services and support the team to develop activities that are centred around the needs of young adults and people transitioning from child the adult mental health services.
