Graduate Operations Support Trainee - Oldham - Manufacturing - £28,000 to £35,000

The Company

Our client is a leading, independent manufacturer of technical products and components for operation in ultra-high vacuum, high pressure and extreme temperature environments. With over 40 years’ experience, their products are specifically designed and produced to meet the demands of the vacuum, nuclear, electrical, aerospace and defence industry sectors worldwide.

This is an exciting development opportunity for a Graduate with 1 - 2 years commercial experience to join the business within a Production / Planning biased role and the key responsibility of ensuring timely production scheduling to meet customer demands and delivery timescales.

The Benefits
- Salary - £28,000 to £35,000 Dependent on Experience
- 33 days holidays per annum
- 37.5 hour working week (Monday to Friday)

Experience Requirements
- Educated to Degree level in Mechanical Engineering, Production Management, Materials Science or Physics.
- Minimum of 12 months commercial experience, ideally within Project Engineering, Production Planning, Materials Planning or Logistics Planning
- Strong communication skills, as this role will require regular contact with suppliers
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- The ability to understand and write Bill of Materials and SOP’s
- Previous experience of working with a production environment, manufacturing small electrical / electro-mechanical assemblies across a range of high and low volume products would be highly desirable
- Previous experience of EFACS manufacturing software and / or working within an AS9100 environment would be highly advantageous

Production Controller / Manager - Responsibilities
- Generate Job Cards, Work Instructions, SOP’s and BOM’s
- Schedule production to achieve efficient allocation of resource
- Issue work instructions and bill of materials to production personnel
- Identify and expedite delays in a timely manner, ensuring communication of problems or delays to management
- Involvement in product estimation procedure
- Generate and Issue work instructions and Bill of Materials to production
- Liaise with suppliers and sub-contractors, requesting quotations and raising orders as appropriate
- Ensure production work is correctly documented and complies with approved quality systems AS9100 and/or ISO 9001
- Train and coach production operatives
- Implement health, safety and environmental requirements
- Assist in controlling production costs while maintaining quality standards
