Political Advisor
We are looking for a Political Advisor to support the elected NUS President in their day to day work. You’ll need to grasp the President’s ‘voice’ and help them to amplify that voice with students, students’ unions, partners, and across press and social media. You’ll be writing speeches, op-eds, social media content and briefing notes. You’ll be someone who is completely up to date and in touch with UK and global politics, able to give the President advice that helps her achieve _her_ agenda. Relationships are everything in this role so you’ll be comfortable working with an ambitious and passionate elected leader, a diverse team delivering on our priorities and stakeholders across the movement.
We’re happy to offer flexible work for this role as it will involve some evening, weekend, and overnight work. As with any role there will be a bit of admin alongside the fun stuff. This is a role offered on a fixed term basis until the end of the current President’s term. A critical part of the role being able to support our president on a political and personal level, therefore it is important that you are familiar with her work and politics before applying.
**Why apply?**
At NUS you can expect both fast-paced delivery alongside opportunities for learning, development and shaping our organisational culture. We aim to practice what we preach so we’re happy to offer a flexible person-centered working environment with a great benefits package:
27 days holiday (increasing with service) plus bank holidays and winter closure days (pro-rata for part time)
Flexible working opportunities from day one
Enhanced maternity, paternity, shared parental, adoption and sick pay
Employee wellbeing support
Other Benefits available: Company Pension Scheme, Free Flu vaccinations, Free Eye Test vouchers, Employee Assistance Scheme, Cycle to Work Scheme, discounts, Childcare Allowance, Health Cash Plan
Paid Volunteering Days
Anti-oppression is central to our mission. Education isn’t working unless it’s working for _everyone_ in our society. We’re trans inclusive without exception and we welcome individuals who are up for taking active responsibility for their own ongoing learning on liberation, equity and social justice.
If you’re successfully shortlisted, we’ll see you at an interview on: 21st September
