The Inicio Group are one of the largest providers of Accommodation, Support & Life Skill Services to Children, Young People & Families.
Since launching in December 2010, we have grown from being a small community-based support provider to offering an extensive variety of services on a national level, all with the aim of reducing the long-term impact on the individual, families, and the Local Authority of Children & Young People being ‘Looked After’.
Working in collaboration with our partners, Inicio has consistently shown innovative and fresh styles of engaging with, supporting, and transitioning young people on into successful adult life.
We have an exciting opportunity for individuals to join our team as a Volunteer Youth Mentor in our service in Whalley Range
Volunteering is open to everyone, and no specific experience is required.
As a volunteer you will mentor young people and help them work towards their key skills outcomes by helping them complete activities such as writing a CV, encouraging them to get involved in activities in the local community and teaching them valuable life skills like cooking and cleaning.
Through volunteering you’ll gain valuable skills to help develop your CV and experience. You’ll also volunteer alongside a team of passionate, friendly people who will support you every step of the way.
There’ll be a full induction (time to be confirmed) as well as ongoing training opportunities so that you feel confident in your role and get the most out of your volunteering.
**You must**:
- Be over 18 (check age)
- Be able to provide 2 referees and consent to undergo a background check
- Commit to online training and induction
- Be available for 2-4 hours per 2 weeks
- Commit to the programme for a minimum of 12 months (check date)
- Demonstrate a sensitive and caring attitude towards others
- Have good communication skills including an ability to listen
- Have a warm and open personality and sense of humour
- Have a positive, non-judgemental attitude to working with people of any gender, family status or sexual identity, or who are from any ethnic origin, culture, or religion.
Please note an interview and selection process including an enhanced DBS check and references must be undertaken.
