Mental Health Support Worker

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Workers to join our male dementia ward, St Brelades at our Alderney Hospital site based in Poole.
St Brelades ward caters up to 17 mental health patients and excels in providing excellent assessment and treatment for older individuals with Dementia and Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia. Recently, we were honoured with the National Gold Standards Framework recognition, earning the title of 'ward of the year.' Joining us means gaining invaluable experience in Dementia healthcare, encompassing physical and mental aspects.
You will be driven to make a positive impact on the lives of those living with dementia. You will have passion, empathy, strong communication, and excellent teamwork. Whilst experience is desirable, it is not essential as we offer a structured induction programme, ongoing support and further career development opportunities including the opportunity to enrol on the Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeship for those who would wish to.
**Shift patterns**:
Early - 7:00 - 15:00
Late - 15:00 - 21:00
Twilight - 20:30 - 01:00 (enhanced pay)
Nights - 20.30 - 07.30 (enhanced pay)
Weekends and public holidays at enhanced pay
You will receive a comprehensive and structured induction programme upon commencing employment.
In return we can also offer you monthly pay plus enhancements for night, weekend and bank holiday working with regular management, clinical supervision and meaningful appraisals
You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.
Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
