We are looking for a Behavioural Safety Lead. Your new role will report to the Assistant Director - Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability within the Directorate of People, Safety and Communications working in parallel with the Operational Safety Lead. This role also works closely with all Directorates to oversee and assure the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) of a consistent and cohesive approach to the behavioural aspect of changing safety culture within the context of the MCA Way.

**Job description**:
As the Behavioural Safey Lead you will champion, facilitate change, and embed a culture of safety through proactive management of human behaviour in the workplace aligned to the MCA value, MCA Way, and Civil Service Code. You will collaborate with Directorates to set the tone for a safety culture, deliver training and give advice on behavioural safety to make the MCA a safer place for all staff and volunteers through behavioural change.
You will work with Leads within the Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability team to ensure that the MCA remain compliant with Health and Safety regulations and requirements within the UK and provide support to those working for the MCA overseas.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Oversight all aspects of behavioural safety in MCA, working closely with colleagues in Human Resources to facilitate change support innovation and embed a safety culture.
- Develop and drive behavioural safety initiatives aligning to organisation objectives, conducting analysis to identify benefits.
- Become a Subject Matter Expert for Behavioural Safety engaging with stakeholders as required which may include supporting audits, investigations or process reviews.
- Analyse data to identify trends and implement appropriate actions to drive change.
- Coach and mentor leaders and champions on safe behaviours and practices.
- Advise MCA of future regulatory changes related to Behavioural Safety in a timely manner providing solutions aligned to the current and future needs of the business.
- Lead on the development and implementation on Behavioural Safety policies, procedures, and guidance in keeping with best practice.

**Person specification**:
Essential qualifications/licenses:
- Behavioural Science for Leadership in Safety (Hold, working towards or willing to do so).
- Working toward NEBOSH or equivalent qualifications and membership of a UK H and S professional body working toward or achieved chartered membership.
- A full UK Driving license
Required experience:
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
- Experience of working in a safety critical and behaviourally complex organisation.
- Experience working within a high risk/hazard environment.
- Experience of liaising with stakeholders of varying seniority levels.
