As we enter a new and exciting stage in its provision of support and business expansion, we are looking for a highly motivated Assistant Finance Officer to join our friendly and supportive team.

We are a local charity, providing support services throughout the Eden Valley, from our office & opportunities centre based in Penrith. Our services and businesses provide bespoke support for children, young people and adults, who have additional learningneeds, learning disabilities and/or neurodiversity (autistic spectrum).

**Job description**:
As an integral member of the office, you will be able to work with a number of different revenue streams including business income as well as private and governmental funding. Proficient in Sage payroll & Quickbooks as well as assisting with budget preparation,cash controls, reconciliation, manage and maintain effective data collection, audits and preparation of reports to the trustees by use of excel, word or power point. Ideally, you will have a robust understanding of charity financial law as well as currentand upcoming legislation.
**Responsibilities will include**:
- Budget preparation
- Assist in setting up financial policies and procedures
- Assist and maintain cash controls
- Assist, maintain and reconcile the general ledger
- Monitor cash reserves
- Prepare and reconcile bank statements
- Establish and maintain supplier accounts & process supplier invoices
- Assist and maintain the purchase order system, ensure data is entered into the system
- Work with the Operations Manager to create management reports for each social enterprise business
- Attend quarterly Board meetings to deliver reports and take direction
- Issue payments for all accounts due
- Ensure security for Financial transactions
- Ensure transactions are properly recorded and entered into the computerised accounting system
- Prepare balance sheets for Treasurer
- Reporting to CO & Trustees at finance meetings, responsibility for financial controls
- Manage and maintain effective system of data collection
- Insurance, certification and legislation
- Regular cash spot check audits of clients finances as required by contractual engagement.
- Working in collaboration with our Finance Officer to learn current processes and systems, with the possibility of taking up the Finance Officer position upon their retirement.
- Comply with all policies and procedures, terms and conditions detailed in the company handbook and your contract of employment.
- To maintain good working relationships with colleagues and professionals.
- Carry out such other duties appropriate to the post

**Person Specification**:
- Proficient in Sage payroll and Quickbooks
- Proficient in excel & word suites
- Aware of financial regulations and legislation
- Understanding of UK GDPR and Data Protection
- Experience of budgets including preparation
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality
- Ability to effectively communicate
- Ability to actively listen
- Ability to remain calm and professional
- Computer literate
- Maths & English GCSE - level C
- Financial qualification
- Relevant certificated training
- Transferable skills
