Commercial Underwriter

**What we are looking for**:
We are looking for an experienced Commercial Underwriting professional to join our existing business team either based at The Core in Bristol or Minster Court in London on a full time, permanent basis.

This role can be undertaken from the comfort of your home where you will come into the office every Thursday.

**What you'll do**:
You will look to retain profitable business from brokers in our region, to improve your underwriting and trading skills and those of other Underwriters within the London region and to develop helpful relationships with our key brokers.

This will include:

- Work with the Regional Manager and Regional Underwriters to deliver financial plan (including rate and retention)
- Underwrite following PUA and Underwriting Guidelines to meet required profit targets
- Deliver quality broker service following Broker service levels
- Usage and update of Tools and Systems
- Improve own contribution through active self development
- Develop working relationships with Underwriters, Sales team, Surveyors, Claims and Head Office to support in the delivery of priorities
- Manage the risks involved in running our business appropriate to my role and following the DLG Insurance Risk framework and associated governance frameworks

**Who you'll work with**:
We are a Trading Region handling New and Existing Business. We are a team of 22 professionals who aim to deliver top class service to our Regional Brokers. We pride ourselves in being a team who work extremely well together to achieve our overall Regional goals. You will report to our Regional Team Leader.

**What skills and qualities do you need to bring**:

- Previous Underwriting experience ideally in Motor and/or Fleet classes.
- Negotiation skills
- Ability to develop own broker panel and internal relationships
- Work as part of a team
- Local market awareness
- Progression towards ACII desired but not essential

**Work hours**: Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week
