About Us:
Aim Support Services provides independent living services for care leavers, including unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC), across multiple properties in the UK. Our mission is to help young people into independent adulthood, providing tailored support that promotes independence, personal development, and well-being.
We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and skilled Support Worker to join our team. This role is perfect for someone with experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds, who is passionate about making a difference in their lives.
**Key Responsibilities**
Provide direct support to care leavers and UASC, helping them develop life skills, such as budgeting, cooking, and managing appointments.
Promote independence by encouraging young people to take responsibility for their day-to-day activities and decisions.
Offer emotional support to young people facing challenges, including those related to mental health, education, and integration.
Safeguard the welfare of all young people in line with safeguarding policies, reporting any concerns immediately.
Liaise with external agencies including social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals, and community organisations to ensure coordinated support for the young people.
Help with day-to-day tasks such as ensuring the property is safe and well-maintained, assisting with housing issues, and resolving any conflicts.
Keep accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and progress reports on each young person’s development.
Respect and support cultural diversity, ensuring all young people feel included and respected in their environment.
**Key Requirements**
Essential:
Previous experience working with young people, particularly care leavers or vulnerable groups.
Understanding of safeguarding principles and the ability to act promptly and appropriately in safeguarding situations.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and establish professional boundaries.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-agency team.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one before starting).
Desirable:
Qualifications in Health and Social Care (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) or similar fields.
First aid training (or willingness to obtain certification).
Experience working with UASC or knowledge of issues affecting asylum-seeking young people.
**Job Type**: Part-time
Expected hours: No less than 10 per week
