The Public Protection Chief Officers Group is seeking to appoint an independent chair for the Adult Protection Committee. This will be an experienced individual with significant knowledge and skill in public protection who has previously worked in a senior management role. An understanding of the policy and legislative framework for adult protection is essential, as well as knowledge of current national developments in adult, child and public protection.

In addition, the successful applicant must possess the necessary strategic, professional and personal skills, vision and leadership to drive forward our ambitious quality assurance and improvement activity to protect and safeguard the wellbeing of adults at risk of harm and abuse.

The post holder will work closely with the Chief Social Work Officer and members of the committee, as well as Chairs of other protection committees and their Lead Officers.

The role will be part time and is expected to involve a minimum commitment of 15 days per annum. The post-holder will operate in a self-employed capacity as an independent practitioner
