**Key Responsibilities**
- Maintain accurate financial records using Sage accounting software
- Process purchase and sales invoices, receipts, and payments
- Complete bank reconciliations and manage petty cash
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines
- Manage payroll, pensions, and staff expenses
- Support preparation of monthly management accounts and cash flow reports
- Liaise with external accountants, HMRC, and suppliers where required
- Monitor aged debtors and creditors, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Maintain organised records in line with data protection and audit requirements
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management to support business decisions
**Requirements**:
- Proven experience as aBookkeeper, preferably within hospitality or retail
- Proficiency in Sage (essential)
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, VAT, and payroll
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Good communication skills with a professional approach
**Desirable**
- AAT qualification (or equivalent) preferred but not essential
