Senior Technical Advisor - Process
**Principal and/or Senior Technical **Consultant Role**
Reporting to the EMEA management, the Principal and/or Senior Consultant will demonstrate competence in areas including Refining/Petrochemical Process Technology, Feasibility Study development including Technical and Economic Evaluation, Project Concept Development, Investment Strategy Development as well as Technical Due Diligence and Lender’s Technical Consultant assignments.
As a more experienced individual on our staff, the Principal and/or Senior Consultant performs their own work in terms of collecting information, developing deliverables, analysing for trends and key findings, and preparing Word or PowerPoint Reports.
Recognizing their project management responsibilities, a Principal and/or Senior Consultant should have excellent organizational skills and be good at communicating and guiding others. He or she typically manages and/or works on a few projects at one time, thereby necessitating excellent ability to multi-task, work without supervision, exercise good judgment and communicate with colleagues of a wider KBR organisation.
Additionally, a Principal and/or Senior Consultant supports the group’s overall sales effort through proposal/tender preparation, contract negotiation, and other client interfacing activities.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Provide consulting services to clients during all phases of an engagement, Feasibility Study including technical and economic evaluation, configuration development and screening, energy efficiency as well as Technical due diligence and Lender’s technical consultant roles;
- Support and lead marketing and business development activities to sell consulting engagement of various sizes. Meet and present to clients to assist with the selling process;
- Lead and manage consultancy assignments with client organizations whilst controlling quality, cost and client satisfaction;
- Act as and be recognised as a ‘Subject Matter Expert’ in specific expertise in one of the following value chains, such as:
- Refining Processes;
- Commodity Chemicals Production Processes;
- Syngas Processes; and
- Energy Efficiency and Optimisation.
- Prepare and deliver conference papers at international events; and
- Support the growth of the business.
- Refining and/or Petrochemical market knowledge;
- Industry competitiveness/awareness;
- Refining and/or Petrochemicals operations;
- Specific Refining and/or Petrochemical process technologies
- Process understanding and modelling
- Refinery-petrochemical integration;
- Feasibility and configuration studies;
- Technology vendors/licensors;
- Cash flow model analysis;
- Technical due diligence (for mergers and acquisitions);
- Lender’s Technical Consultant;
- Process design;
- Process operations and improvements; and
- Project execution strategies.
- Able to work within a ‘sell-do’ model;
- Strong self-starter and motivated to succeed;
- Practical front-end consulting - including scoping, selling and delivery;
- Excellent communication skills including ability to produce concise reports and presentations appropriate for all levels;
- Confidence to work at all levels of a client organisation (Board to Technician);
- Desire to expand role and be adaptable to client’s needs;
- Contribute to preparation of proposals, execution plans and budgets;
- Identify new opportunities and leads; and
- Supports a continuous improvement culture and identifies gaps, develops work processes, tools and methodologies to drive productivity and growth.
Other Functions
- Based in Greater London office (but other locations considered);
- Primary degree in Chemical Engineering;
- 10+ years of industry experience with a specific technical and/or commercial focus in the Refining and/or chemicals industries;
- Knowledge of process simulation (e.g. using Hysys, Aspen Plus, LP) is a plus;
- Good analytical and problem solving skills;
- Positive and flexible attitude;
- Excellent verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, good cultural awareness;
- Diplomatic in meeting and working with people (internally and externally);
- Flexible and willing to work extra hours as necessary to accommodate occasional work load peaks;
- Relevant higher degree is a plus (Masters, PhD, MBA);
- Work experience with an industry company, licensor or technical consultancy is a major plus; and
- Fluent English, additional languages are a plus.
