**About the role **
A challenging, new opportunity has arisen for the role of Transport Planner within our Transport department at our site in Stafford. This is a key role within the operation for the production of an optimum transport plan, delivering value to our customer, whilst maintaining the high standards of delivery service expected by them.
**Shift Pattern**:
Monday - Friday (8am-4pm) however flexibility is essential
**What you’ll be doing **
- To develop and control an agreed amount of resources (vehicles, drivers, trailers) ensuring all legal constraints are adhered to (Working Time Directive and EU Drivers’ Hours regulations)
- Produce effective and efficient transport plans through current planning process and Paragon
- Understanding and achieving specific targets regarding vehicle utilisation
- Communicate with customer services, Transport Operations and drivers to ensure route changes are explained and justified
- To respond to driver route queries in a timely manner and record query and response on the appropriate database.
- To work to deadlines and work independently when required.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients
**About You **
- Due to the nature of the role we are looking for dependable and committed individuals. The successful applicant will ideally have a proven track record within a planning environment, preferably within the haulage industry.
- Any previous experience of planning systems/software would be an advantage. (IE Paragon)
- Have the ability to work on their own initiative and the willingness to resolve issues.
- Be able to organise their own workload and work in a busy environment and meet milestone deadlines throughout the planning process. They should have confident and effective communication ability.
