A large school with over 200 staff and 1,700 students is seeking a Librarian to organise and manage the daily running of the learning centre and the library. They have a fabulous library housed within their Learning Centre for all students to use throughoutthe school day and beyond. Their well-stocked library contains over 18,000 books and 1,500 periodicals, with fiction books categorised by genre to make it easy for our students to access.

As a Librarian, you will be working 35 hours per week, term time only.
**As a Librarian, you will**:
- Organise and manage the daily running of the Learning Centre and the library resources, to include categorising and organising the library stock
- Work collaboratively with staff and students to create and develop the Learning Centre and library that inspires and engages users.
- Support the literacy leader in closing the reading age gap and with literacy initiatives
- Support the literacy leader with organised events to motivate and encourage reading and
- independent learning
- Supervise students studying in the Learning Centre
- Supervise and support students attending homework club after school
- Oversee the Peer Mentoring scheme
**We are looking for a Librarian who has the following skills and experiences**:
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
- A good standard of general education
- Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
- Ability to relate well to children and adults
- Shows a personal commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and rights of young people.
- Excellent interpersonal skills both in working relationship with young students and in forming effective professional relationships
- A knowledge and love of young people’s literature
- Ability to consistently and effectively implement agreed behaviour management strategies
- Ability to provide levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to students, encouraging the student to stay on task
- Ability to adhere to policies, procedures and relevant legislation to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality, data protection and equal opportunities
If you are successful in this Librarian role, you will be joining an established 11-18 single academy trust with a good reputation (Ofsted ‘Good’ rating 2016), wide catchment, and a strong presence in our community.The school is consistently oversubscribedwith a PAN of 300, and most of our students choose to stay with us for their post-16 study.
