**Purpose**

The Data and Information Manager will be part of Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)'s Data Team within the Performance & Evaluation Team (PET). The post holder will be responsible for providing EPSRC's Funding Management Information(MI) with colleagues in the above team. This will involve providing EPSRC with custom datasets, reports, analytics, and analysis to meet a wide variety of business needs.

The post holder will become an MI expert primarily in EPSRC's funding and grant data portfolio and its exploitation but will also work with other data sources including Research Outcomes, Bibliometrics and a variety of external datasets.

The post holder will be expected to proactively engage with internal customers to understand their needs, translate complex issues and feedback to the team on business developments, contributing to the strategic direction of the MI Service.

The post holder will make valuable contributions to the evidence used in EPSRC's decision making processes both for operations and strategy development.

**Responsibilities**

The role will be primarily responsible for:

- Working with the rest of the Data Team to provide the Data Query and Analysis service
- Responding to ad-hoc requests for data/analysis, often with a short turnaround time
- Running any regular reports required by EPSRC
- Creating and maintaining custom databases, dashboards, visualisations, and analytical tools to support ongoing business needs in monitoring our portfolio
- Proactively engaging with internal customers to understand their needs and advise them in using and interpreting the datasets and analysis produced by the team
- Preparing guidance for colleagues on using EPSRC management information systems and data
- Helping to developing new techniques and methods to enhance the offering of EPSRC's Data Team

**Essential**
- Highly developed analytical and numeracy skills, as well as experience of solving complex data analysis problems. A proactive approach is required to identify, extract, and communicate information of value from quantitative and qualitative datasets
- The ability to handle a varied workload with competing priorities and deadlines
- An ability to establish effective working relationships and networks internally and externally with a wide range of customers; demonstrating excellent communication, influencing, and negotiating skills, including the ability to actively listen to others
- A willingness to learn to aid personal development and continuous improvement within the team
