Our family-owned business is where to achieve more from your career by proudly building Britain's future heritage with us. **The "Senior Design Engineer" role** This role is responsible for supporting the project lead as part of a team of engineers and technicians producing design solutions for construction.You will have an ability to manage a small team of graduate engineers and technicians and to deliver wellconsidered, quality designs solutions in a manner which upholds the Visions and Values of the Company. You will be expected to use your Engineering, time / cost awareness and practical and technical knowledge to deliver design solutions that meet our contractual obligations, recognise current legislation, standards and codes of practice, prepare constructionmethodology and buildability, and ensure are of the right quality and are delivered to meet the proposed procurement and construction programmes. Responsibilities include: - Prepare designs in accordance with MDG Procedures - Ensure that Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability considerations are adequately addressed. - Prepare cost and programme for design consultancy bids. - Provide forensic engineering support to the company to establish efficient solutions to any defects that may arise on any construction project. - Provide buildability support and due diligence reports on structural design solutions carried out by external consultants. - Prepare alternative designs for company construction tenders or research any construction methods that may provide commercial advantage for tenders. - Supervise graduate / design engineer(s) along with CAD technicians. - Provide mentoring, guidance, and hands on training to your team to advance their knowledge and technical competency. - Attend project meetings with both internal and external disciplines and clients and / or their representative. - Provide support to the company in terms of relevant knowledge and experience. **Your profile** - You will ideally be a Chartered Engineer with either ICE, IStructE or Institution of Geologists as appropriate - Have a number of years post qualified experienced working as a Design Engineer. - You will have some experience in the nuclear industry in order to be able to perform detailed design calculations within the nuclear design group based in Knutsford, Cheshire. This is a small group of engineers and CAD technicians with extensive experienceand expertise within the nuclear sector who are well regarded by their industry peers. - You will be a motivated individual with a keen interest in structural, civil or geotechnical engineering and an appreciation of architecture.An interest in temporary works design would be considered desirable. **Rewards** We're ready to invest in you and your future, and offer wide-ranging, performance-related progression opportunities.
