**Senior Buyer**

**_The Role_**

We are currently recruiting for a proven Senior Buyer, with experience in large scale procurement projects, to join our procurement team. This role will be eligible for flexible working and from time to time you will be required to attend supplier sitesacross the UK.

The role collaborates with inspiring and diverse individuals including technical experts, department leaders and their teams; utilising on the expertise from the procurement round table you will build strong supplier partnerships to exploit new offeringswhich can limit business expenditure.

This role will offer the opportunity to learn from people with a wide variety of professional backgrounds so although a utilities or renewable power background is desirable it is possible to build industry knowledge.

**_Responsibilities_**
- Work with Head of Procurement and business leads, to ensure the successful delivery of contracted

activities, identifying continuous improvement opportunities through engagement with suppliers and

stakeholders, and maximising value for money from contracts awarded.
- Build the category strategy and execution plan by developing and delivering long term sourcing strategies, lead key initiatives with cross-functional teams; drive the decision-making process of the category roadmap with senior leadership.
- Drive commercial relationships with suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving optimal cost and performance.
- Lead supplier performance management including improving sustainability & social responsibility.
- Partnering closely with cross functional teams including the other category managers, workforce staffing, marketing, employee relations, legal, finance, to deliver on goals and manage the implementation of your defined strategies.
- Support the overall development and delivery of assigned categories (as appropriate) to profile category characteristics, and research supply markets, suppliers, and assess trends, opportunities, and risks feeding insights (as appropriate).
- Deliver value, by effectively managing tender events for key products required by the business.
- Actively contribute to in-depth spend analysis and market analysis on targeted areas of spend, and across Categories support the Head of Procurement in the development and execution of annual saving plans and develop and lead negotiations for agreed spendareas to achieve short-term and long-term savings targets.
- Manage all phases of strategic sourcing projects as required: data gathering, stakeholder engagement, RFP process, negotiations, contract implementation, and contract management.
- Support the management of the P2P system and back-office team who respond to first line supplier and business partner queries.

**_Person specification_**
- Solid experience of working in a procurement team.
- Conversant with tendering requirements, from conception through to contract delivery and award, through to effective relationship management and dispute management.
- Capability and desire to research markets, to understand the internal and external influences to guide best practice procurements.
- Capability and proven delivery of commercial contract management, with the ability to work with the Legal Advisors both internally and externally.
- A robust understanding of data analysis, project management, and specification development.
- Experience, or an excellent understanding of, how to lead tender exercises with project teams.
- Excellent understanding of managing and supporting request to pay systems within the respective areas.
- Team player, enjoys sharing learnings and working with co-workers to develop the teams’ skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Comfortable working under pressure, within strict deadlines on competing projects
- Desirable to understand construction sector frameworks.

Qualifications and Experience
- Legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom
- 6 years procurement experience in a buying or procurement role
- Able to interface with different company departments with a cooperative and proactive approach.
- Ability to think logically and critically to solve a problem.
- Have a desire and the enthusiasm for learning.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively in fluent business standard English
