We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and experienced Midwife to implement the Under 27-week Pathway. The aim of the role is to enhance the quality and safety of care for our women, families and babies with leadership, care, and compassion.

The Preterm birth midwife will provide specialist care and advice for women attending the prevention of the Pre-Term birth service. To plan, assess and evaluate the full programme of individualised care from pre-conception to post-natal period, taking cognisance of social, physical, psychological, and cultural needs.

The post holder will lead and facilitate the full implementation of the Under 27-week pathway within the Trust to improve the outcomes for Pre-term babies and families.

This role will oversee the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care focused on improving outcomes and experiences for women, babies, their families/carers, and staff

Lead and facilitate the implementation of the Under 27-week Pathway.

Work in collaboration with midwifery, neonatal and medical colleagues to ensure that at 85% of expected births under 27 week (28 weeks for multiple births) take place in the most appropriate setting.

Form and develop a multi-disciplinary team approach to achieving the pathway and national expectations.

Take a lead role in supporting the development of family focused information explaining the pathway for premature births.

Function as the lead contact for the Trust and work collaboratively with partners involved in this work, for example, West Midlands Ambulance, Midlands Perinatal Team Neonatal Operational Delivery Network.

Support the dissemination of learning from Exception Reports reviews and help to embed any lessons within clinical practice.

Interface with external partners, the LMNSs and agencies to learn about and keep abreast of developments in the field and to track and introduce best practice, providing and receiving complex and sensitive information to other clinical professionals.

Be the champion for a culture of learning and quality improvement.

Monitor and collate the Pre-term birth data to analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of actions taken, including outcome indicators for Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle v3, “Reducing Preterm Birth”.
