An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer at RNIB's production site at Gateshead - this is a really exciting role for the right person at the right time in their career.

At RNIB Gateshead, we are responsible for the production of braille, audio and large print using a variety of equipment, including braille embossers and bagging machines.

**About The Role**

In this role, you will be hands on - performing a range of routine, reactive, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance tasks. You will ensure specialist pieces of machinery are safe, reliable and working efficiently - machine specific training will beprovided. You will also be reading and interpreting mechanical diagrams, schematics, maintenance manuals and parts catalogues.

Through this maintenance, you will be confident in identifying and recommending improvements to production equipment and manufacturing methods. As such, you will be regularly making recommendations for relevant maintenance activities with Production staff.

As well communicating with the wider production team, you will also be managing and guiding an Engineering Apprentice who will support you in your tasks.

**Who We're Looking For**

You will have a good understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment as well as hydraulic pneumatics, with working knowledge of their operations and principles.

Communication and problem solving are key in this role, you should be able to explain and arrange maintenance as well as lead an apprentice or similar direct report.
