**Salary: approximately £35,000 per year (includes Fixed Cover & Shift Allowance payments)**
**Location: Fulbourn Road, Cambridge**
**The Role**
It's crucial to monitor the operation of our treatment works and water distribution networks 24/7, 365 days a year. Our control rooms, comprising a single unit in the Cambridge region and three in the South Staffs region, act as the Air Traffic Control systems for our water supply regions.
- Monitor, accurately record, and respond to the SCADA telemetry system and security alarms.
- Supervise CCTV and intruder systems, initiating response plans.
- Review parameters affecting demand or supply and record observations.
- Analyse and monitor pressure and water level data, accurately identifying anomalies or shifts in established patterns.
- Maintain and communicate operational information as required.
- Remotely manage pumping stations and other assets to adjust to daily water demand requirements.
- Report faults and alarms, liaising closely with internal departments and Duty Officers.
- Communicate with operational teams within the business.
- Revise the call log book entry by providing additional details and relevant information.
**What You’ll Need**
- Preferably, knowledge and experience of distribution systems or a similar control centre/SCADA-driven environment; full training provided.
- Rapid learning and information retention.
- Effective multitasking during busy periods.
- Focus on resolving water distribution issues.
- Lone working - the ability to operate independently and take prompt, decisive action when required.
- Technically minded self-starter, with the ability to learn and retain information rapidly.
- Good interpersonal skills are essential, as you will regularly interact with internal departments and key stakeholders to resolve water distribution issues.
- Excellent communication and IT skills; the ability to work under your initiative and take immediate and decisive action when necessary.
**Shift Pattern**
You will work rotating shifts in line with a rota that includes nights, weekends, and public holidays. Additional shifts may be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence. This role involves some lone working, for which appropriate training and equipment will be provided.
