The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is recruiting Clinical Advisors to work in our Integrated Care Hub which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, responding to 111 and 999 calls.

Working within the Integrated Care Hub you will conduct complex clinical triage in a sensitive manner. You will be responsible for completing assessments and providing advice and information using clinical assessment software. Where appropriate, you will be supported to utilise your clinical judgement to refer patients for further care.

The role is suitable for a paramedic or general nurse, with current HCPC or NMC registration. Triage experience and an understanding of call centre environment are useful, although full training will be provided. In addition to this, commitment to team working, computer literacy and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential requirements. We are particularly interested to hear from you if you can offer flexibility around shift patterns, with increased service demand at evening, weekends and over Bank Holidays.

You are required to complete a five-week full-time training course, followed by mentoring to successful competency sign-off. Support within the call centre is provided by colleagues and Clinical Managers.

As a Paramedic / Nurse Clinical Advisor you will work within the Integrated Care Hub, an innovative multi-agency call centre combining NHS 111and 999 call-answering, to ensure delivery of safe, effective and efficient care to the Island population.

You will work as an autonomous practitioner to provide high quality clinical advice utilising the NHS Pathways triage tool.

As a Service we are invested in developing staff to meet their potential. Along with identifying and implementing innovative clinical practices to ensure we provide the highest level of care. We are looking for applicants who have;
- Current registered general Nurse (NMC) or Paramedic (HCPC)
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Paramedic or Nurse
- Evidence of undertaking update training and continuous personal /professional development in accordance with the HPC regulations
