Senior Housekeeping Assistant

**Working hours, Full time (35 hours per week) part-time, flexible and school friendly hours considered.**

**WHAT WE DO**:
The Lake District Calvert Trust is a charity that challenges disability through outdoor adventure. We provide fun-filled outdoor adventure for all, with our adapted equipment and specialist knowledge, offering an experience like no other to people with disabilities, their friends and family. We support around 4,000 disabled visitors each year to stay at Calvert Lakes, our 60-bed residential centre or accessible self-catering apartment.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

Our Senior Housekeeping Assistant is an integral position within Calvert Lakes working closely with the Head Housekeeper to deliver a high standard of cleaning for our visitors, ensuring that areas are hygienic and clean.

You will be providing key operational support and in the absence of the Head Housekeeper you will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day housekeeping and room changeovers are completed to a high standard.

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate that you are a flexible and motivated team player who is able to effectively communicate within the Operations team to ensure issues are reported in a timely manner, ensuring our visitors have an excellent experience.

If you are a hardworking (changeover days can be demanded), flexible and motivated housekeeper, with the skills and experience to manage a small team. An ability to work to deadlines, ensuring that Calvert Lakes facilities are ready for our guest’s arrival, and want to be an essential part of the team that makes a difference in people’s lives we would like to hear from you.

**KEY ACCOUNTABLITIES**:

- Servicing residential bedrooms and public areas to the highest possible standard (full training provided);
- Addressing any minor issues during a check
- Reporting any larger issues to the Head Housekeeper in a timely manner.
- Responding to guest requirements (additional linen, supplies or care equipment).
- Assist the Head Housekeeper with the ordering of cleaning chemicals and domestic materials
- Conduct regular checks, as requested by the Head Housekeeper
- Carrying out linen preparation work in the laundry room.
- Compliance with all health & safety, company and legislative policies applicable to Calvert Lakes
- Provide leadership to the housekeeping team in the Head Housekeepers absence.

**Qualifications & Experience**

**Essential**
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Experience of working with guests or customers.
- Must be able to use own initiative but equally work with other members of the team.
- Strong communication skills and good team player.
- An understanding and empathy for working with people with disabilities.
**Desirable**
- Experience managing a small team
- Relevant H&S training and qualifications
- Full Driving Licence
**Conditions of Service**

This role requires considerable flexibility, enthusiasm and dedication. Being a 24/7 residential centre this job will involve some irregular hours as well as some weekend and evening work in order to ensure facilities are available to our visitors. Commitment and an appropriate work ethos are essential to ensure certain functions are completed within defined timescales for the smooth operation of the organisation.

It is a requirement of employment with the Trust that you have had both doses of an approved Covid vaccine. This becomes a legal requirement from 11th November 2021, as our Calvert Reconnections service is a CQC regulated residential care home.

**Contract**:This position is permanent after the successful completion of a 6-month probationary period.

**Hours**: 35 hours per week. Some weekend working on a rota basis will be required. Full-time, part-time, flexible and school friendly hours considered.

**Holidays**:28 days per annum, including Bank Holidays. An additional day’s annual leave is accrued for each year’s service up to a maximum of five additional days. This entitlement is pro-rata
