**JOB DESCRIPTION: SUPPORT WORKER **Location: Denbighshire based Rhuallt

Title: Support Worker
Reports To: Manager Hours: Up to 39 flexible working hours per week Holidays: Initially 20 days extra days as service progresses+ paid public holidays Salary: £9.50 per hour

**Must be a full vehicle driving licence holder.**

Purpose of Job
The Job is centred on organic vegetables and fruit production across our 10-acre site. Working alongside colleagues and people with learning disabilities to promote skills development and wellbeing.

Main Activities
Ø Supporting people with learning disabilities to work within a team to produce high quality crops. Help with production methods, sales of goods and day to day involvement in the business

Ø Physically fit enough to undertake a wide range of horticultural activities. (Activities are likely to include digging, lifting, carrying, kneeling, bending and repetitive movements.) Operating agricultural machinery such as a small tractor or walk behind tractor etc

Ø Working with vulnerable people (people with learning disabilities / physical disabilities

Ø Commitment to horticulture and environmental awareness as therapeutic activity

Ø High levels of discretion, empathy, and sensitivity

Ø Commitment to working as part of a team

Ø Adoption of high standards of health and safety within the workplace

Ø Willingness to develop and maintain positive working relationships with external agencies

Ø Willingness to drive works vehicles small minibus to provide transport for people to the site as well as deliver / collect materials and produce.

Ø Willingness to undertake some limited weekend or evening work for which time off in lieu will be given

Ø Willingness to undertake training as necessary / appropriate

Ø Willingness to work in accordance with our policies and procedures

Ø Willingness to work within and promote the ethos and principles that underpin the activities and services of Co-options.

Ø Ensure people’s active participation in activities on a day-to-day basis and supporting people with personal care needs.

Ø Attend team meetings and meetings concerning individuals supported

Ø Liaise with family/carers/agencies when necessary

Ø Always ensure people’s wellbeing in terms of physical safety and mental well-being, in accordance with a Health & Safety policy across all placements, with business managers.

Ø Covering colleagues work during illness or leave periods

Ø Keep accurate paperwork in relation to all matters

Ø Other relevant duties as directed
