Are you an experienced senior leader in children’s residential care ready to make a real impact across multiple services?
We are seeking a dedicated and strategic Head of Safeguarding to oversee the operational leadership and development of a portfolio of EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) children’s homes based in Lancaster. This is a key leadership role for a seasoned professional with the drive, vision, and compassion to deliver safe, nurturing, and high-quality care that transforms young lives.
**The Role**:
As Head of Safeguarding will be responsible for:
- Providing strong, consistent leadership and supervision to Responsible Individuals and Registered Managers.
- Overseeing compliance, safeguarding, service quality, and performance across all homes.
- Leading Ofsted preparation, inspections, and responses, ensuring outcomes of ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’.
- Developing and embedding quality assurance systems and continuous improvement strategies.
- Collaborating with Local Authorities, safeguarding partners, and external stakeholders to ensure best outcomes.
- Ensuring children’s welfare and development are prioritised in every aspect of service delivery.
- Monitoring operational performance through visits, audits, and hands-on leadership.
**Key Requirements**:
**Essential**:
- Minimum 3 years of senior leadership experience in children’s residential care.
- Strong understanding of Ofsted frameworks, Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, and safeguarding legislation.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Proven experience supporting and developing Registered Managers.
- Demonstrated success in leading multiple homes or services.
- Excellent communication, people leadership, and organisational skills.
**Desirable**:
- Registered Individual (RI) experience with Ofsted.
- Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Familiarity with therapeutic or trauma-informed care approaches.
