**Health and Safety Advisor (CDM)**

**About Us**

The Housing Investment Service is responsible for the management and delivery of responsive and cyclical maintenance, planned improvement works and refurbishment programmes to a stock of 24,000 domestic properties, garages and associated buildings and surroundings.

The Service is structured around key delivery areas, with teams responsible for Responsive Repairs, Voids, Gas Servicing & Repairs, Electrical, Planned Improvements, Asbestos, H&S, Asset, Finance, Customer Engagement, Contract Support, Home Ownership and Claims. All teams work closely together to provide a uniform and consistent service for all our customers and stakeholders.

The Service is responsible for an annual revenue maintenance budget of c£27m and an annual capital improvement programme in excess of c£55m, both of which aim to actively keep properties in good repair and reduce disrepair, fire safety risks, repairs and disruption for our customers, whilst ensuring ongoing compliance with all relevant building, fire, gas and landlord regulations and associated legislation. As a social landlord, we are particularly focussed on excellent customer care and support to persons living in our homes, aiming to provide the best possible customer journey/experience, and are always looking to tailor our service delivery to accommodate individual customer needs.

**The Job**

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Advisor (CDM) position within the Housing Investment team. You will be responsible for providing dedicated Health and Safety (H&S) support and guidance on all construction related issues and to ensure legislative compliance within all Housing Investment activity. This will involve reviewing H&S legislation and leading on the development and maintenance of key H&S policies, processes, documentation, risk assessments and safe working procedures, to ensure HCC and its contractors are compliant with key legislation, particularly key duty holder responsibilities within the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.

You will also be responsible for the development of individualised H&S training plans for team members and the development of service delivery plans for a number of areas including asbestos and legionella within Hull City Council housing stock.

You should hold a degree or equivalent level of experience in H&S or related compliance field and have experience of delivering, monitoring and planning services at an operational level, alongside a good understanding of planning and project management. You must have good communication and interpersonal skills, be able to write structured and concise reports and procedures and be able to manage and lead a team effectively in a challenging environment.

This is a full-time, permanent role, 37 hours per week, which include a generous benefits package for working for Hull City Council, including the ability to work from home for part of the week, as appropriate, via hybrid working arrangements.
