**About us**

The Biscuit Factory is an independent art gallery, founded in 2002 and located in the cultural quarter of Newcastle, Ouseburn. Our events team is currently looking for a Food & Beverage Supervisor.

Our venue has a comprehensive collection of hireable spaces delivering exceptional events; from meeting rooms for 8 - 20 delegates, up to our 300+ person event suite The Biscuit Room. The Food & Beverage Supervisor is responsible for overseeing set up and facilitating food and beverage services at all live events on site.

Clients include corporate events, student socials, private parties and weddings. Our team must be adaptable to each type of event and understand the service requirements for different types of client and size of event.

The successful applicant will join a respected and growing service working alongside a fellow supervisor, operations manager, two event co-ordinators and a Head of Events as well as the Kitchen and casual staffing teams.

**REPORTING TO**: Operations Manager / Head of Events

**HOURS**: Minimum 20 hours/wk

**WAGE**: £12.40 per hour

**START DATE**: September 2024

The Food & Beverage Supervisor is responsible for overseeing set up and facilitating food and beverage services at all live events on site.

**PERSONAL SPECIFICATION**
- Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role in food and drink service
- Previous experience working behind a bar and waiting on tables (cocktails and mixology experience beneficial)
- Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure
- Good communication and people skills
- Committed to delivering a high level of service
- Excellent grooming standard

**JOB SPECIFICATION**

**General responsibilities**:

- Work alongside the Operations Manager to oversee set up of tables, buffet stations, bar and any other food and beverage provision required for each event
- Manage the effective operation of the bar, food and table service during a live event
- Work with the operations manager to manage wet stock for all events spaces and specific event requirements, including stock rotation and ordering
- Cellar management including efficient line clearing stock rotation and general cleanliness
- Duty Manager rota as required.

**Team Leading**:

- Work with the operations manager to create effective staffingplans for each event
- Work with the most senior member of the team during a live event to ensure the finest customer experience for all guests
- Manage and motivate a team at each live event
- Respond quickly and proactively to employee concerns, whether during setup, live event or breakdown
- Serve as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviour
- Ensure all staff adhere to company policy and procedures
- Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among the team

**Customer Service**:

- Provide excellent customer service to maximise satisfaction and retention
- Ensure all banquet functions are up to standard and exceed guests’ expectations
- Oversee guest and employee satisfaction
- Maintain high standards of courtesy, service and cleanliness
- Respond quickly and proactively to guests’ concerns
- Manage guest complaints to the best of your abilities/knowledge before escalating

**Standards**:

- Be aware of and comply with all food, health and safety regulations
- Familiarise yourself with all event menus and related allergy and dietary information
- Take pride and responsibility for every dish leaving the kitchen and every drink served from the bar
- Actively guide and direct your team during an event to ensure consistency and a high level of performance and service delivery

Hours: Minimum 20 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate increased demand during peak periods and business need.
