Herts CM22 6HP **Salary information** - £9.90 p/h up to 37.5 hours, sleep ins at £65 per night, 10% overtime allowance **Working hours** We provide 24/7 support to some people, as an **Apprentice Support Worker / Care Assistant **you will need to have flexibility to work shifts, including sleep in nights, weekends and bank holidays. **Thinking about taking your next step in a career in care? Want to learn from experienced Support Workers, and be part of a fantastic training programme? If so, we have a great opportunity for you at Hft** **What will the Apprenticeship as a Support Worker involve?** The Apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to complete a recognised Level 2 qualification, in Health and Social Care. The Apprenticeship will last approximately 13 - 18 months (depending on the speed of completion), and will be carried out during your working week. You will receive on the job training and will benefit from support of a Skills Coach provided by our apprenticeship provider. **What is Support Work?** The purpose of the role is to give the highest possible standards of support to individuals with moderate to severe learning disabilities. This can range from supporting them to discover new interests, reaching goals like travelling or holidays and working positively with their families and friends. This will help individuals to engage in different leisure, home or work-related activities, all according to their personal choice. If you have a positive attitude to life and a desire to support people to live their life with as much independence, choice, dignity and control as possible, then this role is perfect for you. **Why should you consider an Apprenticeship with Hft?** There are many reasons why you should consider an Apprenticeship with us, one of them being the chance to be a part of a fantastic, supportive and dedicated team. There are not many positions that allow you to **earn a full salary while you learn** and our Apprenticeship programme does just that It enables you to train on the job and discover exactly what it is like to be a Support Worker. At Hft we believe that everyone has a right to the best life possible and that includes people with learning disabilities. But people with learning disabilities face obstacles that are hard to imagine - their challenges can be complex and lifelong. Even so, with the right care, support and encouragement, we believe everyone with a learning disability can find more enjoyment, comfort and satisfaction in their lives. **Here is what our apprentices have to say**: **Madison in Cornwall says** “I am not really an academic person, the amazing fact that I am getting it done so quickly, a lot quicker than I thought I would, it’s fascinating what I’m learning inside work and with the course and how the two marry up together and how my work is so much better than it would be if I was doing them as two separate things.” **Jay’s thoughts on what the apprenticeship really looks like**: “So, what I thought doing an apprenticeship with Hft would look like would be some days on the job, and some days in classroom and that couldn’t be any further from what it is. All of your learning is done on the job. You get your first six month of the probationary period, you do your Care Certificate within that time and then after that they enroll you onto your level 2 NVQ in adult health and social care, whereby you have an NVQ Skills Coach and they come in and all of your learning is done with their guidance whilst you’re on shift. It’s just a really fun way to learn; I would definitely recommend it” **Why are we doing it?** - We recognise the benefits an Apprenticeship can bring to both an organisation and an individual - We want to train people to be our qualified colleagues of the future - We want to hand down all the experience we have in the teams - We want to offer opportunities to those who might otherwise not have considered an entry role into the care and education sectors **What’s in it for you?** There are a range of benefits and career development opportunities at Hft. We’ll give you a comprehensive induction, full training, and support along the way. You’ll be supported by our internal learning and development specialists to guide you through your induction period. If you do not already have a relevant qualification in Health and Social Care, Hft will fully fund and provide training for you to obtain your Diploma in a Health and Social Care within the first 18 months of your employment. With Skills for Care accreditation we are committed to investing in you to ensure you have the specialist skills and expertise needed to support people to live the best life possible.
