**About the Role**

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Newcastle at a period of significant growth and transformation within the organization.

As a Data Scientist, you will be working within the Risk team who is responsible for the core loan loss provisioning models within the Society. We have a stack of predictive models which, when combined with forward-looking economic forecasts, provide anestimate of expected credit losses.

In your day to day, you will:

- Take a lead role in developing, managing and monitoring our PD, LGD and EAD risk models;
- Support the creation of suitable macroeconomic scenarios;
- Maintain model documentation and produce recommendation papers to governance committees;
- Develop and maintain model performance monitoring and annual reviews;
- Undertake independent analysis to ensure that existing model parameters remain robust and fit for purpose;
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders;
- Provide peer review and challenge to the Society’s Tier 1 models in support of our model risk framework;
- Support the development of junior analysts;

**About You**

You will be a highly motivated individual and a critical thinker with a good dose of pragmatism. You should possess skills in the following areas:

- Experience in model development and sound documentation

The following skills are desirable:

- Good knowledge of credit risk management
- Knowledge of provisioning (e.g. IFRS, IRB)
- Experience with survival/equity release models
