Applications are invited for the above permanent full-time post working within the Estates Management section of the Campus Services department. For the most part, this role will be located on campus at Bangor, however, some travelling between sites (Bangor, Anglesey and Wrexham) may be required.
To carry out manual tasks individually or as part of a team as directed. To deliver a range of services as required which include but are not restricted to construction ‘handyperson’ type work in a neat and tidy manner.
Assist trade-staff as appropriate on a semi-skilled basis. Labouring duties as required. Basic roofing repairs, gutter and gully cleaning. Conducting minor property management assistance activities. Cleaning inside and outside buildings - usually, but not necessarily, related to construction work. Reporting defects in buildings, equipment or furniture to the Help Desk. Receiving, handling and distributing furniture, goods or equipment within or between University buildings.
The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.

Purpose of the Job
Carry out a range of Repairs, Maintenance and Planned Improvement duties with the emphasis on multi-skilled within various University buildings, including halls of residence.

**Responsibilities**:
To carry out manual tasks individually or as part of a team as directed.
To deliver a range of services as required which include but are not restricted to:
- Work deemed to be construction ‘handyperson’ work in a neat and tidy manner as expected within the construction sector.
- Assist trade-staff as appropriate on a semi-skilled basis.
- Labouring duties as required.
- Basic roofing repairs, gutter and gully cleaning.
- Conducting minor property management assistance activities.
To be flexible in delivering the following work tasks (the list is indicative but not exhaustive):
- Carrying out basic checks or meter readings.
- Cleaning inside and outside buildings - usually, but not necessarily, related to construction work.
- Removal of construction waste or refuse to recycle provision.
- Receiving, handling and distributing furniture, goods or equipment within or between University buildings.
- Reporting defects in buildings, equipment or furniture to the Help Desk.
- Assisting at various ceremonies during the year.
- Assisting with University emergencies as requested.
- Driving University vehicles appropriate to the role.
Generally, post holders will be allocated duties in line with their skills and experience, but they may be required to carry out any of the above tasks or others to deliver the business needs of the University.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork (including hand-devices) is completed accurately, records are maintained and filed appropriately.
- The post holder will work within any University buildings, external grounds or construction environment as allocated.
- The post holder will perform a variety of tasks both internal and external sometimes in inclement weather and protective clothing will be issued as necessary.
- The post holder may use ladders/access equipment and to work at height. The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grade of the post. You may be required to undertake other responsibilities and training as requested by your line manager appropriate to your grade.

- Working towards or prepared to study and obtain full multi-skilling competence or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
Desirable
- Relevant formal building trade craft/part qualification.
Experience/Knowledge
Essential
- Experience of carrying out a similar manual construction role.
- UK driving licence.
