**Suffolk County Council, **Ipswich, IP3 9JL or Lowestoft, NR32 3LJ**: - **£24,496 **per annum (pro rata if part part-time)**: - **37 hours per week**: - **Permanent** We are committed to** flexible working**, so please read the **Job and Person Profile (docx)** to find out about the types of flexible working available for this role. **Are you empowered by being able to see and feel positive change?** **We are looking for people like you, who share the same care, support, and dedication as we do.** An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Suffolk County Council (SCC**) Suffolk Therapeutic Fostering Team** as a **Family Support Practitioner **working from either **Murrayside Community Centre Ipswich **or** Airey Close, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft.** **Your role and responsibilities** You will: - work directly with young people to raise their self-esteem and confidence and equip them with a wide range of skills to enable them to function in wider society and offer Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command (CEOP) training - enable a young people to engage in a programme of coaching sessions that will lead to them developing self-coaching skills, the focus is very much on moving forward and achieving goals and in doing so increasing self-esteem, self-confidence, self-belief, and self-worth in young people - identify and work towards achieving goals that the young person has generated, accepted, and feels motivated by, guide the young person on this journey and to provide goal-focused, flexible, and child-centred support - be keen to deliver and support with the facilitation of training to both young people and foster carers and supporting the wider team in this task - be opportunities to contribute to the expansion and further developments within the team. If you are looking for a new challenge and are passionate about improving the outcome for children, this may be the role for you. **You will need** - a relevant Level 3 practitioner qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant area of work - relevant experience in coaching, mentoring, and supporting young people and with the skills to encourage positive interactions with a young person. **The team** Suffolk’s Therapeutic Fostering team contributes to the therapeutic relationship between carers, children, and professionals.be an integral part of a multi-agency team working with clinical psychologists, social workers, course trainers and facilitators, and other family support practitioner's. The team: - provides a county-wide therapeutic support service to Suffolk foster carers - consists of a clinical lead and a clinical psychologist who will offer clinical support and advice to the team, other professionals and to foster carers as well as develop and delivering therapeutic courses and training days - includes social workers and family support practitioners who offer direct support to foster carers, offering a range of training and therapeutic courses - offers Toolkit Training which is an innovative and creative course for foster carers, SGO’s, kinship and adopters to assist and support them in caring for children. In addition, other training is offered to support foster carers such as; therapy Intervention’s, Positive Parenting and CEOP IT Safety Training to a range of families - are a busy, friendly, and highly supportive team with lots of creativity and passion in the work we do to support children and families.
