Band 7-8a Preceptorship CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST**
**THRIVING KIRKLEES CHILD AND ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE - Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team**
**CALDERDALE CHILD AND ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE - Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team**
Due to significant new investment, we are now looking for 2 enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Psychologist to join our multi agency Neurodevelopmental Assessment Teams on a full-time basis. This post would suit those who have an interest in neurodiversity, love using assessment and observation skills to formulate complex presentations, enjoy working with children and young people and within a multidisciplinary team. The post provides an opportunity to use skills in trauma informed assessment and formulation alongside diagnostic assessment tools and criteria. There are also opportunities to develop skills in supervision, leadership, research, teaching and training and service development.
The current team is well established but undergoing an exciting period of development. As a result of significant new funding the team is expanding and moving to new premises that will allow the provision of a well-equipped, well - staffed, clinically excellent service. The team currently offers evidence based diagnostic assessments in line with NICE guidance to children and young people under 18 where there are concerns regarding Autism Spectrum Conditions or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The post holder will be involved in all aspects of the assessment process and will be a fully integrated member of our friendly and welcoming multidisciplinary team, working alongside our Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Specialist Mental Health Practitioners, Psychiatrist, Assistant Psychologists and Support Worker.
The new investment will also allow us to develop a wider service offer to children, young people and their families that includes pre and post diagnostic support and intervention and so the post holder will have the opportunity to be involved in shaping the future of the service.
The service offers a wide range of development opportunities and is committed to the career development of its staff. All relevant training will be offered as necessary (for example ADOS and supervisor training) and further CPD opportunities are encouraged. Clinical supervision will be offered by one of the Senior Clinical Psychologists within the team. Interests in research or offering psychological intervention can be negotiated and accommodated as part of the role as we understand the importance of using the variety of skills acquired in the process of becoming a clinical psychologist. The Neurodevelopmental Assessment Teams sit within specialist CAMHS and so as well as being part of this team you will also be part of and have access to the wider multidisciplinary CAMH service
We have 2 post available one in the Calderdale team and one in the Kirklees team. Both teams offer assessments at our new base at Princess Royal Health Centre in Huddersfield. Successful applicants will be required to complete a DBS Check.
The post is open to clinical psychologists who are due to qualify or are recently qualified at a band 7 and offers career progression to a band 8a once competencies applicable to that grade and job description have been met.
All employees of the Trust are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect patients. You will be asked to confirm your vaccination status prior to being appointed to this role
If you wish to learn more about the post or have any questions please contact Dr Helen Walsh, Consultant Clinical Psychologist/Clinical lead on
