The core function of this post is to support the Trust’s challenging Procurement objectives by working with colleagues in the Operational buying team, who administrate the online E-Procurement system, to act for the Assistant Operational Procurement Manager when required and deal with transactional purchase orders and the Strategic team who are responsible for Contracting of goods and services.

To undertake the checking and producing of orders, to ensure governance has been followed.

To work closely with the strategic sourcing team to ensure that best value opportunities are taken.

To work on own initiative in ensuring that the Trusts influencable non pay expenditure is exposed to best practice purchasing, including identifying areas of spend to be implemented into the work plan.

To undertake and assist customers in obtaining low value quotations, through selection of new and existing suppliers.

To identify and ensure delivery of purchasing savings.

To ensure value for money to all our customers, considering delivery and quality of products and whole life costs.

To source quality suppliers to ensure value for money.

To ensure reasonableness of all orders and amend where necessary, checking authorisation, codes, and quantities.

To place orders for non-stock items via computerised purchase order processing system.

To ensure all purchases comply with legislation.

To assist in maintaining the credit card statements.

To check formulary’s and ensure codes are up to date.

To support the Assistant Operational Procurement Manager in maintaining the E-Procurement Catalogue.

To prepare non-catalogue report and identify those which can be moved to the catalogue and set up.

To maintain and act upon NHS reports and products.

To support the Procurement team in developing procedures for the use of Procurement systems and for the improvement of purchasing quality.

To provide telephone cover for the Operational team.

To assist customers with ordering of goods and resolve problems/issues that they might have.

To maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.

To ensure that a customer focused, and friendly service is maintained and developed

To make suggestions for the improvement of services, customer communications, procurement policies and processes.

- New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
