**Job Title**:Fitness Supervisor

**Reporting To**:Sports Centre Manager

**Hours of work**:40 hrs per week, 52 weeks per year

**Purpose of the Job**:
The role of the Fitness Supervisor is to assist the Sports Centre Manager with the day to day running of the Sports Centre. This will include ensuring that all the facilities and equipment are appropriately maintained and available for the benefit of the School and external users. The post holder will be a key team member providing front of house services as well as fitness instructor services.

The nature of the role requires good communication with School staff and pupils, existing and potential members of the Sports Centre, other organisations within the local community, and external agencies as required.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Ensure the facilities are set up and available for school, sports hire and community lets.
- Promote and encourage the use of facilities and services ensuring the highest standards of customer relations are maintained.
- Managing and developing a team.
- Administer Sports Centre membership with a focus to increase numbers and ensure all members enjoy the best possible experience, to include:
recruitment of new members

dealing with enquiries and issues

membership direct debit payment system.
- Contribute to reviewing and developing income generation plans for all Sports Centre facilities to include marketing promotions.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with external contacts and organisations to enhance the profile and reputation of the Sports Centre and facilities, and grow potential business partnerships. Maintain and update Sports Centre database.
- Participate in the provision of lifeguarding, leading fitness classes and personal training sessions, provide fitness advice for members and pupils of MSJ.
- Participate in administration activities to support the smooth running of the sports centre. facilities, including cashing up, updating the database system and liaising with the PE department to ensure school requirements are fulfilled.

**Buildings and Equipment**
- Participate in the daily checks of the swimming pool and facilities ensuring they are maintained in line with safety protocols.
- Ensure that all sports centre facilities are maintained to a high standard day-to-day. This will occasionally include ad-hoc cleaning (with the main daily cleaning done by housekeeping team) and the appropriate setting up, management and storage of equipment.
- Ensure that regular checks are undertaken and recorded of the gym and sports centre equipment.
- Act as a key holder, ensuring the facilities are opened, closed, and secured as determined by the operational programme, and in an emergency supervise the clearing of all buildings according to procedures.
- Work with the sports centre staff to ensure the facilities, including the pool, are always ready and available for use during and outside the normal school day, and for such other school events and commercial activities organised.

**Health, Safety and Security**
- Contribute to the safe day to day operation of all sports centre facilities ensuring they are safe, clean and welcoming.
- Ensure safeguarding protocols are followed to manage appropriate access to the facilities by the various users.
- Ensure that appropriate and detailed records are maintained to demonstrate full compliance with all relevant and recommended good practice for sports centres and swimming pools.
- Contribute to the review, development and maintenance of risk assessments, identifying and controlling hazards.
- Complete pool records, in line with HSG179 Health and safety in swimming pools.
- Ensure the highest level of health and safety practices in the facility, including cleaning, water testing and maintenance duties.
- Participate in the pool plant room checks to ensure appropriate dosing of the pool to maintain water quality.
- Participate in the fire evacuation procedures for the sports centre, ensuring building users comply with the requirements to enable an orderly and safe evacuation.
