**Key responsibilities**:

- To have day to day responsibility for the quality management of construction projects.
- Inspecting construction work and ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications
- Measuring and quality checking building materials
- Identifying defects and suggesting ways to correct them
- Monitoring progress and reporting to construction managers, architects, and management
- Keeping detailed records of work
- Referring to plans and taking photographs of work, along with measurements and samples
- Liaising with contractors, engineers, and surveyors
- Checking that building regulations, health and safety, legal and ecological requirements are met
- To maintain effective relationships to ensure the successful delivery of projects with all relevant stakeholders
- Other duties as required by the employer

**Knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience**:

- A demonstrable expert understanding of construction processes and technology
- A proven track record of helping to deliver complex projects at pace
- An excellent understanding of relevant legislation including building regulations, H&S, CDM etc
- To have a relevant professional qualification (e,g MICWCI) or extensive demonstrable experience.
- A ‘can -do’ attitude with a willingness to challenge conventional thinking. A pro-active, positive thinking, commercially minded approach with the ability to work at pace.
- Thorough, with attention to detail
- Able to use initiative and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Analytical thinking skills
- Able to analyse quality or performance
- Able to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a clerk of works, with at least 5 years overall experience in a relevant construction related role
