**Payroll Assistant**
**Part-time 2 days a week, Wednesday and Friday (16 hours) with flexibility around payroll weeks**
We have 200+ staff working across our two garden centres, coffee shop, plant production nursery and office teams. We are looking for someone with proven experience of processing payroll using software and associated tasks.
**Key Duties**
- Assist or process (as required) monthly payroll.
- Support the Payroll Officer to ensure all additions/deductions and changes are processed accurately, processing new joiners and leavers correctly.
- Support with processing of Statutory Maternity, Paternity and Sick payments
- Running the auto-enrolment pension process.
- Printing and issuing of payslips and P45’s.
- Post and allocate staff purchase payments on to the Accounts systems, plus carry out post-payroll tasks to include record keeping of employee sickness absences
- Deal with employee salary and payroll queries in the absence of the Payroll Officer
- Any other payroll duties as required by the business.
**Your capabilities**
- Experience of using Mitrefinch is advantageous; however, extensive experience of a computerised payroll system is essential.
- Strong MS Outlook, Excel and Word skills are essential.
- Flexibility with hours and peak periods of work is essential
- Good organisational skills and ability to undertake complex calculations
- Professional manner and ability to handle confidential information sensitively
- Proven experience of delivering end to end payroll processes
- Can do attitude, and able to react to changing workload in a fast-paced commercial environment
**Requirements**:
You will have experience of processing payroll for 100 or more hourly paid staff
- Flexible and adaptable in approach to work with the ability to multi-task
- Meticulous and accurate
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good communicator and personable
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise
- Process driven
- True team player with the ability to work on own initiative and follow through and complete set tasks
- AAT or Part II CIMA/CACA/CA desirable
**Working with**
- Report into Payroll Officer
- Work with HR Manager, HR & Recruitment Administrator, managers, the office team and other staff members, as required**Rewards and Benefits**
