Leeds, United Kingdom University of Leeds Full time

**Research Officer/Fellow**:
**Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have** **experience of conducting a research project within a psychological, nutritional or school-based/community setting using dietary interventions? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive universities?**

A Research Officer/Fellow is required to work on this exciting H3 project within the internationally renowned Leeds Nutrition and Behaviour Research Group in the School of Psychology/School of Food Science and Nutrition.

You will contribute to the design, execution, data collection, data analysis, and reporting of transformative interventions across the supply chain to increase fibre intake among low SES groups in the UK. You will be responsible for recruiting adults, children, and adolescents to studies and will undertake the set-up and running of the interventions, data collection, administering measures pertinent to knowledge and attitudes about fibre, sensory/palatability aspects of reformulated higher fibre foods, dietary intake (food choice questionnaires & dietary recall), appetite, digestive function, and psychological wellbeing. Data collection will be carried out in the field in Yorkshire (primarily Leeds and surrounding areas) and in Manchester. This data collection will take place at primary and secondary schools, community and social enterprise settings working with partners such as Leeds City Council, Fareshare, Flourishing Families and Cracking Good Food. Collectively, the interventions you will be working on will exemplify a multi-scale approach to improving fibre consumption among low SES groups, via reformulations, increased access and changes to cooking, knowledge and attitudes.

You will additionally be required to analyse data using statistical software packages, write reports and papers for publication as part of the wider team and disseminate the findings during internal and external meetings. You will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator Professor Louise Dye and the Co-Investigators Dr Neil Boyle and Dr Katie Adolphus. You will be supported by the Human Appetite Research Unit (HARU) research dietitian. Additionally, undergraduate and postgraduate students will assist with data collection and you will provide onsite support. An opportunity to develop your supervisory skills is possible here.

You should have a BSc or MSc in Psychology, Neuroscience, Nutrition or a related discipline. Experience of working with hard-to-reach/low SES/food insecure/vulnerable adults is advantageous. You should be a good organiser, a team player, be highly motivated and able to communicate effectively with children, adolescents, parents/carers, teachers, and adults from a range of backgrounds as well as with other members of the research team and wider programme consortium.

Additionally for appointment at Grade 7, you should have been awarded or recently submitted a PhD or have equivalent experience in a relevant topic area. You must also be experienced in data management and statistical data analysis using appropriate statistical packages (e.g. SPSS or R) and have experience of qualitative methods.

As considerable amount of time will be spent in a school setting, an interest in education and some experience of working with young people would be advantageous. This experience might be in a formal setting such as a school or an informal setting e.g. youth groups, or sports coaching.

A UK driving licence and access to a car is essential as this study involves frequent trips to Schools and community settings, and may also require transportation of study consumables.

An enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DB) is also required for this post but can be applied for on appointment.
