Winchester, United Kingdom Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Full time

**The closing date is 9th Mar 2025**

**Job summary**:
Are you a Mental Health Nurse or Social Worker looking for a new challenge?
As a trust we care about our staff and believe in supporting our staff to develop in their careers within HIOW NHS Foundation Trust.
The 111 Mental Health Triage Service launched in 2018 and covers the Hampshire area including Surrey & Borders and the Isle of Wight. The service has been recognised nationally for making a positive difference and improving outcomes for patients and is being replicated across the country. Employed by HIOW NHS Foundation Trust we work closely with the South-Central Ambulance Trust.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
The service is accessed when patients ring 111, they will firstly be triaged by a call handler that will determine their needs. If the person has mental health needs, they will be placed into the mental health queue whereby a mental health practitioner from our team will check their history, then call the patient back to provide support.
The service supports all ages and can provide a wide range of assistance that can include listening, reassurance, brief psychological interventions as well as referral to primary and secondary services.
The Mental Health Rapid Response Vehicle covers the Hampshire area including Southampton and Portsmouth. HIOW Foundation Trust provide the nurse and South-Central Ambulance Service provide the paramedic. The role also involves working closely with other Healthcare Professionals and Hampshire Police.
The MHRRV is dispatched in the same way an ambulance is, however, the Mental Health Practitioner will have the patient's details and be able to access their history and crisis plans to deliver consistent and guided support. Working alongside a paramedic the patient will be assessed to provide the most suitable intervention.
The service operates across a 24hr period which involves working a rotational shift pattern and can offer flexible working.
