Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner

We are looking to recruit a new Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner to work as part of the MSK Outpatient Physiotherapy Teams.
This new innovative post will form an integral part of Physiotherapy Services within West Cumbria and is a chance to help expand and improve physiotherapy services within the area. The role will involve working autonomously and alongside Physiotherapists within an MSK setting to help provide high quality treatment and rehabilitation to patients with MSK conditions.
We are looking for a friendly, helpful and motivated person, with experience of working within healthcare, who has a keen interest in the rehabilitation of patients. Continued professional development will be actively encouraged within the role.
If you haven’t got an assistant practitioner qualification, you would start at Band 3 until you have completed the training before moving to the band 4.
**The post holder will be required**:
- To provide assistance to professionally registered staff, working effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and provide a programme of ward, department, clinic and community based therapeutic interventions.
- To have specialised expertise, technical skills and following agreed protocols, work independently with patients in this clinical area.
- As a member of the Physiotherapy team, assist in providing flexible, patient centred treatment programmes.
- Take responsibility for own caseload of patients.
- Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with all patients.
- To communicate effectively with patients, families, carers and other professionals to ensure an integrated approach to care.
- To provide education, support and training to physiotherapy colleagues, students and other healthcare professionals.
- To participate in audit and research activities as appropriate.
- To work independently knowing own limitations and seeking guidance accordingly.
- To complete comprehensive accurate and legally compliant clinical records
- To adhere to all Trust Policies and Procedures.
The core working hours of the service are Mon to Fri 8.30-16.30.
