Resettlement Officer

To offer a wraparound support service for Ukrainian guests and host families in East Devon and to support refugees resettling into the area by assisting them to find suitable accommodation and helping with their integration into the community.
Core accountabilities:
1. Provide wraparound support for refugees resettling into the district, either through government schemes or via the homelessness route.
3. Offer a wraparound support service for Ukrainian guests and host families in the district by visiting guests and families at home, making contact with them over the telephone and through digital platforms.
4. Facilitate a re-matching service for guests who wish or need to relocate to another hosting arrangement either within the district or another location within the United Kingdom.
5. Liaise with Ukrainian guests, hosts and families, other project workers, the Housing Options team, the Private Sector Housing team and the Payments Team.
6. Assist with the transition of guests into the private rented sector making use of the private rented sector scheme.
7. Organise and attend wraparound support events laid on for guests and/or hosts as is required.
8. Make sure that Resettlement Team offers a customer focused service using systems thinking principles.
9. Support the Council’s approach to equalities and diversity ensuring that our services and policies identify, address and promote the needs of our diverse community. This includes the need for safety of children and other vulnerable people.
10. Take personal responsibility for the relevant aspects of the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
11. Ensure awareness and compliance with the Council’s policies, Code of Conduct and Constitution.
12. Evaluate and assist in managing risk within the service.
**Education/training**
- Good level of education with at least a GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English
**Knowledge**
- An understanding of current issues in local government
- Awareness of the local housing market and housing providers
- Knowledge of local statutory and voluntary agencies
- Good understanding of benefits, NHS, education, employment, housing (or willing to undertake training to get to the required standard)
**Skills and abilities**
- Accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when working to tight deadlines and managing conflicting priorities
- Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent organisational skills and strong administrative skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Ability to be proactive in delivering team support

**Successful experience in**
- One or more area of the job description.
- Evidence of practical experience in a front facing customer service role
- Previous experience working in a supportive role
