We are recruiting for an Assistant Psychologist to join us on a 12 month fixed-term position at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust’s Specialist Intervention Clinic (OHSPIC) and the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre (OCTC), both part of the Oxford Centre for Psychological Health (OCPH).
This is a unique opportunity to build on your knowledge and expertise in the field of psychology and put them into practice at the only NHS provider of specialist CBT training. You will work alongside national and world-renowned CBT experts including Helen Kennerley, Anne Garland, and Kevin Meares.
OHSPIC is a unique national CBT clinical service providing expert specialist treatment for children, young people, and adults. The team is led by Professor Paul Salkovskis and Victoria Bream, national experts in CBT for OCD.
You will undertake direct clinical work supporting clinical psychologists and cognitive behaviour therapists to provide evidence-based treatments. You'll also support in developing training materials and CBT resources, and in the delivery of training workshops. You will have plenty of opportunity to learn from expert clinicians about cutting-edge CBT practice and contribute to the organisation's future development.
This a full time role (37.5 hours per week) based at the Warneford Hospital and our Slade Site in Oxford.
If you are a psychology graduate with a strong interest in CBT, experience of working in mental health services, then we would love to hear from you
Undertake protocol based psychological assessments of clients under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist including self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care
Undertake standardised, protocol-based psychological therapy procedures in a sometimes highly emotive atmosphere maintaining a degree of professionalism at all times
Assist with the triage of all new referrals, supporting OHSPIC staff within their locality to
review client’s problems and history of care provided to enable decision of treatment offer, and
maintaining required records
Assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment
and/or management of a client’s problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional
psychologist, in both community and residential settings
Assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to
the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place
Attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings
Maintain the highest standard of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and
recording, in accordance with professional codes of practice of the British Psychological Society
and Trust policies and procedures
