**About the Opportunity..** As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will carry out collections and stock deliveries from our suppliers or Distribution Centres (DC) to our retail stores. Based from our Springvale DC.

We’re looking for safety conscious and customer focussed HGV class 1 drivers. Poundland makes safety our number one priority, which is reflected in our impeccable safety record. We maintain our entire fleet with dedicated precision.

**We have various shift patterns available working any 5 from 7 days or nights. 45 hrs per week - with gauranteed 9 hours per shift paid, plus additional weekend and night shift premium payments and overtime rates.**

**What You’ll be doing.** Working as an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will be responsible for the safe delivery of goods nationally or internationally. Your duties will involve
- Ensuring goods are safely secured
- Keeping your vehicle in good condition
- Loading and unloading the vehicle, ensuring delivery of stock to stores in a safe and professional manner
- Having the attention to detail and the ability to follow route maps are essential, along with compliance of Transport Tachograph and drivers hours legislation
- You’ll need to be self-motivated and happy to spend long periods alone as it’s often just you and the road. You will be accountable for completing driver trip sheets daily
- A love of driving is essential and occasionally available for nights out in circumstances that prevent a return to base
- A keen awareness of health and safety issues is also a big advantage

**What you will need.**:

- Holder of a full HGV Class 1 (C+E) Licence
- Hold a Certificate of Professional Competence
- Have a maximum of six points on licence, no drink driving endorsements
- Experience in using tail-lifts and double-deck trailers (desirable)
- Basic motor maintenance skills would also be useful
- Calm under pressure, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
- Customer focussed
