**The Role**
As a Mine Fitter for British Gypsum you can expect a rewarding and exciting role where you will be joining a business that is focused on continuing being a global leader in their field, who can offer you the career progression and security associated withan established and respected brand.
This is site based role at our Birkshead mine in Kirby Thor.
The Mine Fitter will be a crucial part of a technical minded engineering team reporting into the Mine Engineering manager and be responsible for mechanical inspections, machinery performance as well as to provide mechanical maintenance to fixed and mobileplant.
**Here's a short breakdown of the key focus areas in this role**
- An understanding of maintenance and repair of vehicles for man and materials transport ie. Land Rovers, agricultural tractors, Telehandlers, trailers etc.
- Able to work within a small dedicated team or on their own initiative.
- Receptive to additional training to enhance their skills.
- Attend to breakdowns, assess and recover or plan for repairs and assist others when required.
- Carry out mechanical inspections and report back
- Able to identify and report defects and a course of action.
- Completion of a comprehensive shift report detailing work completed during shift and any other follow up work.
- Capable of welding and fabrication work to a good standard (welding to BS4872).
- Knowledge of compressed air and hydraulic systems and fault finding on them.
- A background knowledge of maintenance and repair of underground vehicles and mobile plant or similar would be beneficial.
- Good knowledge of maintenance, repair and installation of material handling (conveying, crushing and screening) pumping and compressed air systems would be beneficial.
- Able to work a 3 shift pattern of Days, Nights and Afters as required, with flexibility to provide out of hours cover as needed.
**Requirements**:
Mining based qualification or HNC or NVQ level 3 in Engineering or recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent.
