**To provide support for a 13-year-old boy who has a diagnosis of Down Syndrome and development delay.
**MAIN DUTIES**
We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to enable this teenage boy to access social and leisure activities within the local community. He enjoys bowling, trampoline parks, going to the gym, playing snooker and visiting restaurants. The support may also on occasion take place at his home address, where he enjoys playing games on his X-box.

This young boy has no danger awareness and will need close supervision to ensure his safety at all times. We are therefore looking to recruit a Support Worker with experience of working with children and young people with complex needs, in particularly around regulating his emotional behaviours and understanding boundaries. It is hoped that in the weeks ahead the support will progress so that he can learn about developing confidence and socialisation skills when out in the community, as well as learning about transport and managing money.

**Hours**
4 hours per week, alternating between a Saturday morning and then following week on a day after school.

**Rate of pay**
£11.91 per hour.
- Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata.
Out of pocket expenses will be met by the employer.

**Person Specification**
The successful applicant must:

- have at least 12 months experience working with children and young who have disabilities
- have a positive understanding towards children and young people with disabilities
- have a genuine interest in working with children and young people with complex needs
- be able to respond positively, confidently and sensitively to any changes in behaviour
- have a high degree of initiative
- be punctual and reliable as the child cannot be left unsupervised
- be flexible
- have a happy, positive, and caring nature
- respect confidentiality

**Car driver essential and must have business insurance.**

**An Enhanced DBS Check is required, cost to be met by employer.**
