Job Introduction BBC England, one of the four BBC Nations, is re-inventing its TV offer for the audience. As part of that creative refresh we will launch a brand-new current affairs series on BBC One and we are recruiting a dynamic, creative and diverse team to help us. "We Are England" transmits Wednesdays on BBC One at 7:30 from January 26th and aims to deliver a fresh approach to peak-time current affairs. It will reflect the lives of our audience from Cumbria to Cornwall, Manchester to Margate. It will tell the big stories that matter, in an accessible, actuality rich, immersive way. The team will be based in six regional hubs across England and will be run by an executive team at the series headquarters in Birmingham. The ambition is for a new series with high production values, popular appeal, warmth, accessibility and investigative journalism - with a clear, contemporary visual style. We will tell compelling stories with a deep understanding of the issues our audience is talking about. We are seeking individuals with the skills to help us deliver great content, maximise the impact of that content and a commitment to understanding and reflecting the stories and experiences of our diverse audience in England. This is an opportunity to launch a bold and ground-breaking new programme, delivering 120 films a year for BBC One from six locations across England. We are England is reputationally critical to BBC One and BBC England and we are recruiting a team to deliver on that challenge. Main Responsibilities Reporting to the Executive Producer (F), you will oversee the production and editorial content of a significant number of prime-time, high-end films a year, ensuring delivery is on time and within budget whilst encouraging the highest possible creative standards. The producers of these individual films will report directly to you. You will provide editorial flair, innovation and management support to a large team, and have a commitment to creating diverse content and diverse teams. You will manage budgets and maximise value across all expenditure, ensuring best value for the licence fee. You will take a lead role in driving forward new projects and new ways of working, collaborating with other departments and providing clear direction, editorial insight and quality control for both on-going and newly-commissioned projects. We are looking for a creative TV executive producer with a track record of delivering high-profile current affairs and/or factual long-form productions of significant reputational value with the proven ability to set the strategic and creative vision for programming from conception to final delivery. You will need to successfully manage a tight budget/resources and deliver high production values. You will have significant production experience including scripting, producing, overseeing an edit and shaping long-form programmes for with the ability to set the strategic and creative vision for long-form programmes/series from conception to final delivery. We would like to see evidence of a fresh approach; an ability to develop and innovate, be open to new ideas and motivate colleagues to take creative risks. You should be able to demonstrate your prior experience of coaching and inspiring producers to deliver long-form films.
