**Job Description**:
We have an exciting opportunity for an Acoustic Consultant to join the AECOM Acoustics team in Nottingham and Midlands, working with and supporting senior colleagues on environmental acoustics projects. Whilst our preference would be Nottingham, other offices in the midlands area may also be considered.
You will contribute to a wide range of acoustics projects, with a primary focus on environmental acoustics, but ability to contribute to building acoustics projects is also desirable.
We have an enviable project portfolio across all market sectors, which provides a wide range of career development opportunities. We advise clients on building, environmental and occupational acoustics, noise mapping, vibration, industrial noise control, audio-visual design and auralisation. A member of the Association of Noise Consultants and Sponsor of the Institute of Acoustics, AECOM Acoustics has a team of over 40 acousticians working across eight offices throughout the UK.
AECOM is one of the largest acoustics practices in the world with offices across Europe, Australia, America, Canada, the Middle East and East Asia. Acoustics is part of AECOM’s Environment business which provides environmental management services for feasibility, impact analysis and operational compliance as well as remediation, restoration and re-use of impacted property.
As a member of our Acoustics team you can expect to work on a wide range of interesting and challenging projects including some of the biggest projects in the UK. Recent and current clients include Battersea Power Station, Houses of Parliament, National Highways, BBC, HS2, and Defra.
**Responsibilities**:
The appropriate level of expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:
- The individual would have excellent technical, project management, presentation, report writing, commercial, personal organisation and communication skills.
- They would be expected to undertake, oversee and technically review noise modelling using software such as CadnaA, SoundPLAN, CATT, Insul, EASE, and SketchUp.
- They would also be expected to undertake a range of site measurements and testing, data analysis, predictions and write and technically review reports on a range of projects. Experience of displaying and manipulating datasets in GIS software would also be beneficial.
**Qualifications**:
Minimum Requirements:
- A first degree (and preferably a post graduate qualification such as a Masters) in acoustics or relevant technical disciplines (e.g. Physics, Maths or Engineering)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post graduate qualification such as a Masters in acoustics or relevant technical disciplines
- MIOA or AMIOA and working towards MIOA
- Chartered status or evidence of working towards this.
