The Student Transition & Outcomes Department empowers all students to actively explore and define their own success. We champion student success through meaningful collaboration with both students and staff to deliver a quality experience for students from all backgrounds.

We are part of the wider Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King’s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience, working closely with King’s faculties to do so.

About the Role

The Student Transition & Outcomes Officer is a vital member of the team. The purpose of this role is to lead on administrative support to ensure the smooth running of our projects and programmes. The role will primarily work on two areas: projects to support the university in improving the student experience and success of care-experienced, estranged and forced migrant students, as well as playing a key role in our award-winning Civic Leadership Academy.

The role is critical to significantly contributing to the positive transition and outcomes of students from vulnerable groups (care-experienced, estranged and forced migrant), as well as providing efficient and effective administrative support to enable the department to deliver on its objectives successfully.

This post will be offered on a 12-month fixed term contract.

Key responsibilities
- Work with colleagues to develop and maintain fair and transparent processes for bursary allocation and student verification for vulnerable group students
- Support on communications for vulnerable groups both internally and externally to a range of stakeholders
- Support on events and support available to vulnerable group students during their entry into and exit out of Kings, through Welcome to King’s and Graduation activities and communications
- Support the recruitment, onboarding and ongoing training of student participants of the Civic Leadership Academy
- Provide general administrative support for the Student Transition & Outcomes team on projects and opportunities that may arise over the course of the academic year as agreed with your line manager.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria
- Experience of supporting projects which require administrative and organisational skills
- Experience of working with people from a range of backgrounds including students or young people
- Experience of building relationships and bringing people from a range of backgrounds and teams together to deliver on shared project objectives
- An understanding of the sensitive nature of personal data, and the importance of compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Understanding of the need for confidentiality
- Ability to work independently in a fast-changing environment and meet challenging deadlines
- Understand how the lived experience of students from underrepresented backgrounds is affected by structural inequality in higher education

Desirable criteria
- Experience of evaluating projects against project aims and objectives and producing reports for internal and external audiences
- Experience of working with and/or lived experience of forced migrants, care experienced or estranged students
- Experience of using databases such as SITs and Advice Pro
